A bit of a before and after scene, Brundetts Road on the morning of the wedding and yours truly covered in confetti. All so long ago in 1974.! Garden work and flowers ready for family graves at Southern Cemetery, more cine scanned and we went to Parbold up Wigan way, we had seen an artists work last week and went to his gallery and came away with our anniversary present to each other. Tomorrow I hope to make a start on outstanding DVD covers and get them on the shop. All very quiet on the PMP front, no orders for two days, relaxing really!
Roll back the years, yes it was 1974 at Manchester Registrars office and we have certainly done a lot and been around a lot since then. Not long to go before we get to the actual anniversary of our marriage, 50 years these days is a spectacular achievement. I need to get a lot of film covers done so I can put items on the shop. Bulk pricing facilities seem not to exist on either EBay or Weebly and I done want to do thousands of items by hand. Perhaps pull the plug on Ebay. They charge us £2 each time we sell a DVD there. Perhaps we'll put a digital request there like the one on our shop. Meanwhile some more Edinburgh shots. Of course regular readers and viewers etc will know that we are celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary in June shortly after the NWVRT open day and running day at the premises in Kirkby. Our photos from the wedding are mostly slightly damaged B&W so some quite aggressive repair and colourising work to get them to something like acceptable. 28th June 1974. Today I'm going to do a bit of gardening and hopefully clean my little IQ car. My back isn't that brilliant, I think it was the two consecutive days filming at the weekend. I've edited all the weekends film, one each bus and truck from Llandudno and three truck from Lincoln.
Yes it doesn't matter where in the world you are we can send the digital download out via Drop Box, this means you save money, time and waiting. It also means Dave has got a chance of sharing our collection before retirement. We are also creating STILL image DVDs with the first on Malta buses already on the shop. For any digital film go to the PMP shop and down the bottom of the landing page is a button Digital film request purchase as many different films as you want and make payment for the amount. Then in remarks put the film numbers. I will then digitise any that aren't already available and get them all to you asap. The Truckfest at Lincoln was a dogs dinner, in future I'll just go along to arrive mid morning and use the spot I had on this visit, probably taking a fold up chair with me. The site is too large to wander around with random lorries dotted here and there. The cost of entry exceeds the value of the event. Kelsall knocks spots of it as does Gaydon and Llandudno which are all far better organised and more friendly. Truckfest said that the ticket was an early bird special but we had to line up waiting for ages and didn't get in until 9am. By this time masses of lorries were leaving! Anyway I've got loads of films to edit and here are some more photos to enjoy I'm certainly not one to dodge paying entrance, far from it I often offer donations with entry to events fundraising or charities but really Truckfest is far from that. The exodus started it seems before breakfast and be the time we got in on an 'early bird' tickets at 9am the trucks were pouring out. By 10am I had had enough, the layout was random and far flung, huge distances between exhibits. I left and sniffed out the surrounding area and eventually after slogging back to the car fetched it near to the roundabout and set up shop with the car nearby. It settled down to a steady stream which by 4pm seemed to be drying up. Next time I'd just get up as normal and potter over in the morning, park the car round the corner and enjoy the big exit, If you want to see us live then come to the NWVRT event on the flyer its Sunday 2nd June 2024. Meanwhile we hope you like the first srinkling of shots from a wet Glasgow yesterday.
emI think that I would have learnt my lesson with EBAY, trying to do anything with the shop other than listing ' a similar' item would by a flop. In the end the Ebay listing support gave up and passed it up to the people that write the programmes as there was a fault in the logic of the process which was very new. I finally got a lass in Ireland but that took a lot of doing. So meanwhile people can still get a bargain there but if nothing better happens I'll pull the plug on that just as I did with Amazon. Our shop is the only place where people can get the whole range and particularly good now with the downloads. I was thinking of adding a similar one page item on EBay to select films for downloads but that is now a long way off. We had the alarm chap here doing the annual service, this was after a whole wasted day waiting for Mandy earlier this week. Tomorrow we are doing our jaunt up to Scotland to update coverage of Glasgow and Edinburgh. The weather outlook is a bit iffy but if we don't do it this week it will bump into our forthcoming travel arrangements . I've already got the car packed ready for the trip, won't be in the pub late this evening as it will be a very early start. Two years since we last did the main cities there. I've done some more work on the Ivor Harding and Phil Tatt cine with the end og the present batch in sight. Then I'll get some of John Bishops out of the way, some of it a first look, what seemed to be so new has quickly become quite classic. So no camera chip so lets dip into the Scotland file for a retro glimpse back to 2015 Yesterday was Jean Hannay's funeral in Staffordshire, a rather off the beaten track journey but a nice service and friendly wake in Derbyshire. We knew Jean almost as well as Robin but really totally different characters, well Jean didn't write long letters about Wulfrunians but she would have rung them up and told them what she thought back in the day. We had a good session at the wake and found lots of mutual friends especially from Cheshire and Staffordshire - certainly a small world in the bus scene. My email wouldn't open last night and as we were really tired I didn't persist with a blog. We do seem to be getting a lot more interest in the films now they are sent worldwide with no postage, time delays and a lot cheaper than the old DVD plus of course being in HD. Remember establish which films or archive you want use the spreadsheets via button on shop landing page to search. Then complete the download request order, bottom of the same page . Asap I get the files to you by Drop Box. If they aren't digitised I do the business and then they are also there for the next person, it only takes about 8 minutes. I am going to refine the end date for production of DVDs which will be well in advance of the end of sending out previously made DVDs, so it could be around 2028 that we finish making them. The films can played on mobiles, laptops, desk tops or Smart TVs so I cannot think why anyone would want to continue with non HD when it will be much dearer. Thereafter we would just save the digital file with necessary back up protection. I would also cease making covers and listing items on the shops. Big jobs to do now are to get all the Weebly shop prices to £16 and likewise on EBay but I am considering charging £18 on EBay as they charge me £2 and why I've always asked folk to order on the PMP Shop. Today I filmed at Chester and Birkenhead, I'm trying to get the Dutch West Indies film finished before I make them. Many was messed about by the alarm people who failed to show up at 4 given times, Kerways, must do better! We'll have to go out to shop tomorrow. Weekend, Llandudno Sunday and Truck Fest Monday subject to weather outlook. |
